  1. MySpace is powered by pictures and images.
  2. Update your status and post bulletins at most once a day.
  3. Add tags to your pictures so that they can be found.
  4. Limit your profile to 10 hyperlinks because too many distract from your content.
  5. Stay positive because MySpace is sexy and fun.
  6. Announce new pictures, holidays, and birthdays to stay connected with your friends.
  7. Do not send bulletins that say repost because it is spam.

Twitter Netiquette Rules

  1. Do not Tweet and drive because it is distracting and may cause an accident.
  2. Tweeting more than once in a short amount of time is acceptable on Twitter because the length of Tweets is so short.
  3. Use a direct message to make one on one plans via Twitter because all your followers do not need to know your individual plans.
  4. Do not read every Tweet that you receive because people Tweet and reTweet so much reading every Tweet a waste of time.
  5. Do not use bad language because Tweets are read by everyone.
  6. Check your links before you Tweet them because broken links make you lose followers.

LinkedIn Netiquette Rules

  1. Ask friends and colleagues for recommendations because it gives your profile professional credibility.
  2. Use a unique public url because it adds to your professional brand.
  3. Only complete your profile if you want to because access to profile information is sold.
  4. Post comments on industry related discussions to increase your profile in your industry.
  5. Recommend your friends because if you cannot recommend them why are they your friends?
  6. Answer questions because it is a great way to help and meet new people.
  7. Put links to your blogs and web sites so that your connections and groups can see what else your doing online.
  8. Update your profile regularly so you do not miss an opportunity because your profile was out of date.


YouTube Netiquette Rules

  1. Do not search for or watch porn because it is against the rules of YouTube and can get your account blocked.
  2. Do not upload copyrighted material because it is illegal.
  3. Leave comments and rate videos because that is what drives the ranking system.
  4. Understand that all feedback will not be positive because some people are rude.
  5. Listen to feedback because someone who takes the time to give feedback is usually telling you something important.
