Social Networks allow users to post pictures. Pictures appear in many places. There are profile pictures. Status updates may contain them. Photo galleries are designed for showcases many at a time. Posts are designed specifically for them. Groups allow them to be posted. Most aspects of social networking encourage their posting.


Internet Etiquette

Pictures are easy for users to understand. No education is required to know what your looking at. It doesn’t take a degree to smile or get a happy feeling from a picture like it does a good piece of writing. Pictures are fun.

A picture is worth a thousand words. A thousand words equals a lot of comments. Post pictures because they encourage engagement through comments. Pictures receive more comments than status updates because everyone has an opinion on how a person looks. The way a user looks is social. People wear clothes based on the social class and groups they are a part of.
