Phone Number Signature Netiquette Rules

It is good Netiquette to include a phone number. Don't leave out the telephone number.


A phone number allows people to place voice calls to other people. Voice calls allow people to talk to each other in real time. It’s synchronous.

Email is asynchronous because the recipient may or may not respond to the message.

Internet Etiquette

Providing a telephone number in an email signature gives the recipient a chance to speak with the sender. This gives a message more credibility because the recipient can speak to the author directly if they don’t understand it. Therefore, it is good netiquette to include a phone number in personal and professional email signatures so the recipient knows they can speak with the author if they need to.


Telephone Number, landlines are more credible, because it provides access to the author.
