Professional Video Netiquette

Professional Video Netiquette is the social code of professional digital video. Professional digital video is video produced by paid actors and animators dristributed in an electronic file format. Netiquette is the social code of the internet.

Professional video is displayed on the internet in a variety of ways. There are pay per view websites, subscription based services, and free network programs all available on the internet from a variety of sources.

Internet Video, iVideo, is shot and edited by one person or a small group of people. It is shot specifically for the internet by amateurs and semi-pros. Amateurs use camera phones. Semi-pros use HD Cameras. Windows Movie Maker is Amateur. Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere are professional.

Netiquette, network etiquette, is the social code of the internet because the internet is a network and etiquette is a social code. Therefore, Professional Video Netiquette is how digital video produced, watched, and paid for on the internet.

Digital Video Netiquette Rules

How professional digital video is produced, watched, and paid for. Technology is not quite ready to deliver streaming content right because it is choppy, but business is ready to sell it. Adult content has been making so much money off of it for so long that the rest of the premium content industry wants in.

Geeks put up with the choppy delivery of content for adult content. However, the pricing of mainstream and family friendly content is bringing Geeks out of red light district.

Netflix is $8 for a stream, but prices are going up soon. They have the most viewers and content currently available. Hulu has a good mix of free and fee based content. The Hulu stream is $7.99 per month. The entire network is up for sale because it's gaining so much momentum. A new owner will take it to the next level of the Cybersphere.

Amazon is the white elephant in the streaming Cybersphere. They have just inked a great deal with NBC Universal and are pioneering a new pricing model, yearly subscriptions. It is $79 for year, which is about $6.50 a month. The Amazon Effect will win out in the end because they have the most experience and best track record.

Best Buy offers a la cart service for $1.99 to $3.99 per title. This is a shot in the dark. If they try a little smarter and harder it could take off, however, this business model has not worked for porn and won't work for mainstream media. Blockbuster has service similar to Best Buy that offers movies for $2.99 to $3.99. They went bankrupt.

Wal Mart may make the a la cart business model moderately successful because they will offer video content before the other streamers. Their video prices range from $1 to $4.99 and are available for purchase for $5.99. This is the current state of streaming video pricing. It's good netiquette for Geeks, but I don't recommend it for family viewing.

Professional Video

Professional Video is digitial video shot with paid actors, camera men, and producers. Anything less is semi-professional. Professional Digital Video does not have to be in High Definition because there are bandwith concerns producers may have for the target market.
