- Permalink each post to get more hits which translates into readers.
- Opinions are not fact. Beware that many conclusions in blogs are opinions.
- Cite references for credibility. Everything comes from somewhere.
- Use small paragraphs to keep the readers attention.
- Use the settings to require approval before comments are published.
- Respond to comments related to issues in your topic to engage the audience.
- Post regularly. Two to three times a week for a professional blog.
- Comment on other blogs to help others and users will recipricate.

The rules of blog netiquette are the common conventions bloggers practice when posting and commenting on blogs. The culture of blogs. How we express our opinions on the internet in a civilized fashion.
How you write a blog is up to you. There are many different writing styles to choose from. It is good netiquette to be consistent. The Creative Commons license is the standard for blogging, but many services copyright your material for you. The inverted pyramid style of writing is used for journalistic blogs. Essay format is used for personal blogs. Some bloggers post video and other forms of media. Blogs are expressions of your opinion. If you have an audience, it is good netiquette, as long as it is consistent. The first amendment protects what you write within reason.
Consistency in terms of blogging means that you post on a regular basis. Professional bloggers post three to four times a week. For a blog to be legitimate you must post regularly for approximately six months. Know who owns your material and how it can be used. In general if your work is copyrighted, that means you own it and have to be contacted before it is used. If you are using a Creative Commons License others may use your work to varying degrees.

The blogosphere is the community of bloggers. This includes Twitter, which is a micro-blog. It is a reference to the general sentiments of bloggers in a particular blog community. Building an audience, gaining followers, and getting comments is not luck. It takes good content first, social media marketing, and active participation in the blog community. Content is king on the internet. Users vote with their views. Good content spreads with a little social media marketing.
Social media marketing is telling your friends about your blog and getting them to tell their friends. It is considered bad netiquette to some to ask your followers to retweet a post. However, it works and is a legitimate marketing technique. Some automatic share buttons include the phrase, please retweet. You must give comments in order to receive them. A good rule of thumb is that you will receive one comment for every ten that you leave.

Blog, a cyber word, is a portmanteau created by the contraction of web and log to make blog. It is an internet based diary of an authors opinions about topical issues, subjects, on public and semi-public URL's that allow feedback. Blogs are the definition of User Generated Content (UGC). Users of a particular network create and market their works to friends, followers, and the general engaging them with the features and benefits of the network.
