Open In Plain Text Antivirus Netiquette Rules

It is good Netiquette to open emails in plain text. Don't show html by default.

Explanation

Plain text is all about you and how you feel about your data. Only allowing plain text email can limit exposure to viruses significantly. It blocks links or other files from running in your email application. This block prevents viruses from being downloaded. Also, it prevents being redirected to a website with a virus by blocking links.

Internet Etiquette

Plain text messages do not display interactive content. All interactivity is disabled. Pictures do not display and links are broken. Images sometimes include other files with undesirable executable files. Links can lead to viruses, malware, and spyware. Antivirus software is not full proof. Plain text is the best way to prevent viruses.

Netiquette

Read messages in plain text because it protects computers from viruses.
